PowerTrain Fit for Duty™ connects wearable data with training to support readiness, safety, and informed decision-making
Hyattsville, MD — October 15, 2026 — PowerTrain, Inc., a leader in custom learning solutions and learning technology, today announced new biometric capabilities for Callisto, its enterprise learning management system. Fit for Duty™ connects data from wearable devices with training activities, helping organizations incorporate real-world readiness and safety indicators into their learning environments.
Initially designed with Department of War use cases in mind, Fit for Duty supports wearable devices including Garmin watches, Oura Rings, and WHOOP bands. The module enables organizations to establish biometric thresholds and health profiles, associate devices with individual learners, and use biometric readings to help determine whether participants meet defined readiness criteria.
“Training completion can tell you whether someone has met a learning requirement, but in many high-stakes environments, that is only part of the picture,” said Lisa Cox, CEO at PowerTrain. “By bringing biometric information into Callisto, we can help organizations connect training with a more complete view of workforce readiness while keeping instructors and qualified personnel at the center of the decision-making process.”
Fit for Duty is designed around two primary operational roles. Instructors can manage wearable devices and initiate training sessions, while clinicians or medics can review biometric information and make determinations based on recorded readings. The workflow includes device registration and assignment, creation of health profiles, configurable thresholds, participant monitoring, and review by authorized medical personnel.
The capability supports two primary scenarios: collecting metrics during a defined physical training session, such as a boot camp, drill, or scheduled exercise, and serving as a continuous safety-monitoring tool that can alert designated personnel when an issue is identified.
PowerTrain is also incorporating privacy and security considerations into the module’s design. Callisto includes a biometric consent acknowledgement within the user profile, and biometric information is protected using application-level authenticated encryption. Additional security and regulatory requirements are being evaluated as the capability progresses through testing and validation.
While defense readiness is an initial focus, PowerTrain sees potential applications for biometric-enabled training and safety monitoring across other high-risk and performance-driven environments, including first response, healthcare, warehousing, construction, transportation, and athletics.
PowerTrain will be showcasing Fit for Duty at HR Tech 2026, giving attendees an opportunity to see how wearable biometric data can be incorporated into Callisto to support training, readiness, and safety workflows.
