Hyattsville, MD — March 10, 2026 — PowerTrain has received a Bronze award in the Instructional – Video category at the 2025 Horizon Interactive Awards for its CBRN Field Craft Training Products project developed for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Emergency Management (AFCEC/CXR).

Designed to support Air Force Emergency Responders preparing for CBRN Validation Exercise (VALEX) events, the CBRN Field Craft training suite was created to provide quick, practical refresher training across a wide range of mission-critical topics. The suite included 38 unique, mission-aligned performance support tools developed to help personnel refresh knowledge, reinforce prior instruction, and prepare for real-world application.
The project combined multiple learning formats, including videos, custom animations, procedural checklists, paper-based job aids, and reference materials. Training content addressed core areas such as pre-planning, personal protective equipment, equipment fundamentals, detection and decontamination principles, and emergency management tactics, techniques, and procedures.
Airmen receive extensive CBRN training throughout their careers, but time often passes between initial instruction and the point when those skills are needed during exercises or deployments. PowerTrain developed this suite to help bridge that gap with intuitive, on-demand resources designed for just-in-time review and field relevance.
To deliver the suite on schedule for an upcoming VALEX exercise, PowerTrain worked closely with the client and subject matter experts to develop dozens of assets across formats while maintaining consistency through custom-branded templates and an agile ADDIE-based development approach.
